On May 2, 2022 Politico dropped a legal bombshell with the publication of a leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court which, if adopted, would radically change the rights of Americans to seek abortion care.
Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization is a pending Supreme Court case about the constitutionality of a Mississippi state law that bans abortion after the first 15 weeks of pregnancy. The leaked draft opinion, as authored by Justice Samuel Alito, would uphold the Mississippi law and invalidate the constitutional right to abortion access granted by Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood. GW Law's faculty members recently shared their thoughts on the implications of the draft opinion, the effect of the leak on the Court and the rights of those protesting at the homes of Supreme Court Justices for this decision.
