David Mitchell is a trial attorney at the United States Department of Justice in the Environmental Defense Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division. He defends Environmental Protection Agency regulations and other actions in the federal circuit courts of appeals and federal agencies in district court litigation under all federal and state environmental laws. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Mitchell was an active-duty judge advocate in the United States Air Force for 10 years, where he prosecuted courts-martial and advised commanders during duty tours at Air Force base legal offices. He also practiced environmental law in the Air Force Environmental Litigation Center. Mr. Mitchell received his JD in 2010 and LLM in environmental law in 2018, both from GW Law School. Mr. Mitchell lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Jennifer Mitchell, and three children.
