Jessica Floyd Alexander, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly 10 years of experience providing individual, child, and family therapy and supervision in Maryland. Dr. Floyd Alexander earned her graduate degree from Rutgers University's Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology Clinical Program in New Brunswick, NJ, in 2008 with a concentration in multicultural issues and child and family therapy.

Since graduating, Dr. Floyd Alexander has provided therapeutic supports on a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and self-esteem, as well as relationship and cross-cultural issues. In addition to providing thoughtful and comprehensive therapeutic supports, Dr. Floyd Alexander supervised several graduate students not only in their capacity as developing clinicians, but as growing professionals. She has a strong commitment to help students develop the emotional skills they need to get through graduate school and to excel professionally.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Floyd Alexander has committed herself to championing diversity and inclusivity within multiple professional organizations. As chair of the Maryland Psychological Association's (MPA) Diversity Committee for the last five years and Diversity Liaison for the American Psychological Association's Practice Organization's State Leadership Conference, Dr. Floyd Alexander has successfully organized programming to enhance the inclusion of diversity issues in every aspect of these organizations through workshops, networking events, and cultural assessment.

In 2016, she was the recipient of the first MPA Grady Dale, Jr. Award for Outstanding Contributions to Diversity in Psychology. She is excited to blend both her mental health and diversity backgrounds in this newly formed role as Program Administrator for Wellness, Diversity and Inclusion.

"I am most looking forward to working closely with students in helping them develop healthy habits now so that they are prepared for the career that they want. I hope to be a source of support for students as an adviser and ally in their journey of full authenticity. This will occur when both mental health and cultural identity are understood and strengthened," Dr. Floyd Alexander said.

As the new Program Administrator for Wellness, Diversity, and Inclusion, Dr. Floyd Alexander will develop a clear understanding of how these three concepts function within GW Law. She will develop programming and training that will engage students, faculty, and staff in appreciating these aspects of the law school experience. As a part of the Dean of Students Office, Dr. Floyd Alexander will support staff in working with individual students when concerns arise, provide appropriate referrals when needed, and help develop ways of bringing mental health and diversity awareness to the forefront of all aspects of GW Law.
