Emily R. Pierce is currently the Special Assistant to the Legal Adviser at the US Department of State, where she has served since 2011. She recently returned from New York City, where she was assigned to the US Mission to the United Nations as an Attorney-Adviser. 

Ms. Pierce has also served as an Attorney-Adviser for United Nations Affairs and Ethics. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal for Venable LLP and was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied international relations and negotiations at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) and the Universidad de San Andrés. 

Ms. Pierce is a member of the American Society of International Law and is serving on the 2020 Annual Meeting Committee.
