Since 1981, Mr. Jaffe has served as a full-time Arbitrator and Mediator primarily hearing labor and employment and benefits disputes. He serves on over 60 permanent arbitration panels in the private and public sectors and was appointed by both President Bush and President Obama to serve on or chair four Presidential Emergency Boards addressing emergency disputes arising under the Railway Labor Act. During the past 32 years, he has presided over more than 4,500 disputes.

He is a frequent contributor at professional conferences and has served in leadership positions in various bar and professional organizations, including service as National President of the Society of Federal Labor and Employee Relations Professionals and Vice-President of the National Academy of Arbitrators.

In addition to his arbitration and mediation service, he also served as Chair of the Foreign Service Grievance Board, Chair of the GAO Personnel Appeals Board, as the Labor Relations Administrator for Montgomery County Maryland under the Police Labor Relations Act, and as a member of the Prince Georges County Public Employee Relations Board. Prior to becoming a neutral, Mr. Jaffe was an attorney in Boston, Massachusetts where he represented employers in connection with a wide variety of labor and employment and benefits issues.
