After graduation from GW Law in 1973, Jonathan Kahan clerked for the Honorable Oliver Gasch of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After his clerkship, he joined Hogan Lovells US LLP (then Hogan & Hartson) where he has continued to practice food and drug law with a focus on medical device law and regulation. Professor Kahan is the co-director of the firm’s Food, Drug, Medical Device and Agriculture Practice Group and represents clients before FDA and in administrative hearings and the federal courts. He is a member of the law school’s Dean’s Advisory Board and its former chairman. 


In addition, Professor Kahan is the General Counsel of the Association of Medical Diagnostics Manufacturers and the author of several books on medical device law and regulation.
