Katie Nesbitt is a Senior Trial Counsel with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Foreign Litigation (OFL). Prior to joining OFL, she served five years as an Attorney-Adviser in the National Security Division of DOJ and spent nine years in private practice, handling cross-border litigation and international arbitration matters. Ms. Nesbitt is a Fulbright Scholar and completed a thesis analyzing the constitutionality of counter-terrorism laws authorizing the preventative detention of terrorist suspects in Australia and the United States. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Miami, and currently serves as Vice-Chair for Publications with the Government Attorneys Interest Group of the American Society of International Law. Ms. Nesbitt resides in Bethesda with her husband and two children and enjoys tennis, rowing, piano, and coaching youth hockey.
