Jacob A. Stein, LLB '48, died April 3 at his home in Washington, DC, at the age of 94.
With a law career spanning over 60 years, Mr. Stein was known for his sense of brevity, his masterful skill in the courtroom, and his impeccable style.
A founding partner at Stein Mitchell Beato & Missner LLP, he focused on civil and criminal litigation and participated in several high-profile cases that gained national attention, including two that involved sitting presidents. Mr. Stein won the only high-profile acquittal in the Watergate affair and, later, obtained immunity for former White House intern Monica Lewinsky after her relationship with President Bill Clinton.
He received a bachelor’s degree in 1947 from George Washington University and then graduated from GW Law in 1948.
Mr. Stein is survived by his daughter Julie and son Joseph. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, who died on July 25, 2018.
