Questions for Nancy

Meet Nancy Hullihen, GW Law’s new Vice President of Alumni and Development. Nancy shares what she’s most looking forward to at GW Law and why she’s excited to meet our community.

What are three things we should know about you?

First, I love being outdoors and being active. I enjoy cycling and hiking and look forward to doing both of these activities in DC. I was also in the Peace Corps for three years in Costa Rica. During my time there I helped to create and print a guide used by the Ministry of Education to develop business-related training courses for the vocation school system. Finally, I hiked to the bottom and back to the top of the Grand Canyon, which was an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience.

What about GW Law interested you?

The caliber of the school, its students and faculty. GW Law has several programs that are recognized nationally and is considered a premier institution in legal education. The school also has many faculty members who have contributed to the scholarship and practice of the legal profession throughout their careers and are dedicated to passing along their passion and experience to our students. During the interview process, I met with several senior leaders at GW Law, including Dean Morant, and I was impressed by how welcoming they were, proud of the school and its accomplishments and supportive of the efforts of the alumni office.

What about working with a law school community are you most excited about?

While I have worked with faculty, students, and administrators in other professional schools – medicine and business – I am excited to expand my professional experience to law and support the academy of legal education and scholarship. The law school has so many ways for alumni to engage and to be a part of the life of the school. I look forward to continuing these initiatives and cultivating them further.

You are new to DC, what are you most excited about as you move to this city?

DC is a diverse and truly international city which is rich in history and culture, in addition to being home to our nation’s capital. I look forward to participating in the many activities and lectures held at the law school, the greater university and the broader district in general. Also, I was born and raised in the northeast (Pittsburgh) and I am excited to return to nature’s seasons and to experience the lovely cherry blossom again.

What’s the best way for our community to continue the conversation with you?

I can’t wait to get to know the GW Law community! Please call or email me and let’s set up a time to meet. I’ll be at all our spring and summer events and really look forward to making new friends and connections. I’ve also started traveling the country to meet GW Law friends around the region.
