Build a Culture in which a Diverse Community Thrives

GW Law values diversity. Within the GW community, "the term diversity is used to describe individual differences (e.g. life experiences, learning and working styles, personality types) and group/social differences (e.g. race, socio-economic status, class, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, ability, intellectual traditions and perspectives, as well as cultural, political, religious, and other affiliations) that can be engaged to achieve excellence in teaching, learning, research, scholarship, and administrative and support services.

Strategic Priorities:

  1. Cultivate equity, inclusion, and belonging among and within staff, students and faculty
  2. Attract more faculty and staff applicants from broadly diverse backgrounds
  3. Create an inclusive academic experience for all students by employing inclusive teaching practices, revising course curricula, as appropriate, and attracting faculty who are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment
  4. Attract more student applicants with broadly diverse backgrounds, including applicants  who are first-generation, low-income, or from under-served communities
  5. Value and promote a broad definition of diversity
