Our Strategic Plan Overview
GW Law’s strategic plan defines a clear purpose: to make an impact on the law and the world by uniquely combining renowned scholarship and a DC-infused education to prepare students who shape solutions to the pressing challenges of our times. The plan’s goals are organized into six strategic focus areas: strengthening academic offerings, streamlining the student lifecycle, building a thriving, diverse community, increasing alumni outreach and involvement, establishing a holistic career development ecosystem, and expanding the public interest community.
What Are the Strategic Initiatives That Comprise the Strategic Plan?
The GW Law Community identified six strategic foci that were further developed through a series of design sessions, working groups, and conversations with the Planning Committee and key stakeholders.
1) Strengthen Academic Offerings and Programs
The strength of our law school lies in its core academic curriculum, led by faculty of scholarly excellence.
2) Student Experience: Streamline the Student Lifecycle
Create a streamlined and connected experience through students’ GW Law lifecycle to support enhanced outcomes, superior customer service, and engender engaged alumni.
3) Build a Culture in Which a Diverse Community Thrives
GW Law values diversity. As an institution, we are committed to non-discrimination, equal opportunity, and fostering an inclusive and respectful environment that enables everyone to flourish.
4) Increase Alumni Outreach and Alumni Involvement
Connect with graduates as lifelong learners and meaningful contributors of GW Law’s community and culture.
5) Student Experience: Establish a Holistic Career Development Ecosystem
Support students’ career and professional development from their first day at GW to their first day on the job.
6) Expand the Public Interest Community
Expand the identifiable Public Interest Community, which integrates public interest and public service into the educational experience at GW Law.

"On April 15, 2022, the GW Law faculty overwhelmingly approved a five-year plan to define our law school's vision to chart a path for the future. Over 150 members of the community participated in shaping this plan. The result is an exciting and comprehensive strategic plan that will inspire our students, guide our investments, and allow the process to move forward confidently to impact the law school and the world.
