Mr. Doody began his career as a patent examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), attending law school in the evening. After leaving the PTO in his 3rd year of law school, Mr. Doody has spent his career in private practice focusing on patent litigation and prosecution. Mr. Doody has worked for a small boutique patent firm, large general practice firms, and served as in-house patent counsel for a large international corporation. Currently, Mr. Doody is a partner with the law firm of Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman where he focuses on post grant proceedings, patent litigation, and Hatch-Waxman issues. Mr. Doody is the chair of Pillsbury’s Post Grant Proceedings practice, and the Intellectual Property Local Practice Section leader. Mr. Doody has been teaching at GW since 2016.
