Perry Elerts is a Visiting Associate Professor and Environmental and Energy Law Fellow at The George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the California State Bar. From 2018 to 2020, he was a Lawyers for America Legal Fellow at the Center for Biological Diversity in Oakland, CA. In practice, his primary focus was litigating under the Clean Air Act and submitting comments on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Professor Elerts also worked on limiting the detrimental environmental impacts of pesticides through the Endangered Species Act and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. 

Professor Elerts has experience working in a variety of settings in the environmental field including state agencies, the federal government, and nonprofits of varying sizes. His scholarship interests include human health, air quality, and biodiversity. He holds a JD.from UC Hastings, where he concentrated in Environmental Law. While there he was the Executive Editor of the Hastings Environmental Law Journal, where he published Crop Insurance Reform in the Face of Climate Change, 25 HASTINGS ENVTL. L.J. 183 (2019). He earned a BA in psychology, and a BA in the Interdisciplinary Study of Issues of Social Justice summa cum laude from Notre Dame de Namur University.
