Professor Donald C. Clarke, an expert in Chinese law and the David Weaver Research Professor at GW Law, is making international headlines for "Who Owns Huawei?," a paper he co-authored with Professor Christopher Balding of Fulbright University Vietnam.

The paper, available through the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) on April 17, 2019, was recently cited in The New York TimesThe Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail (Canada)The Telegraph (United Kingdom)South China Morning Post (China), and Nikkei (Japan), as well as in contributing pieces for Forbes and The Hill.

In their research, the professors explore ownership and control of Chinese technology giant Huawei and whether it operates independently or under the influence of the Chinese government. They contend that the company's claim of employee ownership is "questionable" and a "myth" and that the corporate structure described on its website is "misleading."
