William E. Kovacic, Global Competition Professor of Law and Policy, was honored with an honorary degree from the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland on November 4. The degree is an international recognition for his achievements.

Professor Kovacic was presented with the degree at the 72nd Dies academicus of the university. This year, the Dies academicus had a theme, "Preparing the society 4.0," which explored how the university is a producer of scientific innovation and knowledge. Speakers who were invited to the event discussed the consequences of digitalization and how this phenomenon has affected the evolution of society. The event aimed to maintain a tradition and to affirm the identity of the university. The ceremony was marked by a procession in academic togas and the respect of a protocol. This event brought together individuals who were recognized for their excellence as scientists. More than 400 people were in attendance.

"On behalf of my fellow recipients of the doctorate honoris causa, I thank this wonderful university community for bestowing this distinction upon us," Professor Kovacic said at the ceremony. "We are most grateful for this honor, and we are deeply moved by your generosity and kindness."
