Mr. Platt is a Senior Litigation Counsel in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he investigates and litigates complex enforcement matters. Prior to joining the CFPB, he served as a Senior Counsel for National Security in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division, where he litigated affirmative and defensive national security and immigration issues in federal district courts and courts of appeals. At the Department of Justice, Mr. Platt earned an Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and multiple Civil Division commendations. During his federal service, Mr. Platt has presented trainings on administrative law, national security issues, and appellate topics to the Departments of Justice, State, Defense, and Homeland Security.  Before joining the Department of Justice, he clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Mr. Platt's scholarship has been published by and cited in numerous law journals, including the Minnesota Law Review, Indiana Law Journal, Florida Law Review, and Administrative Law Review. His co-authored article Administrative Records and the Courts was cited in the U.S. Supreme Court by the partial concurrence/dissent in Department of Commerce v. New York (2019).
