We talked to Open Doors Scholar, Precious Diamond Thompson, Class of 2025, about her experiences at GW Law and plans for the summer. Read more about her experiences below.

1. As a rising 2L, what are you most looking forward to in the new academic year?

"I am looking forward to having the opportunity to be more involved in organizations [during] my 2L year and taking more classes that align with my interests! "

2. Did you join any student organizations? If so, what organization and why?

"I joined Black Law Student Association because I appreciated the community, and the events were always helpful for navigating my 1L year. I [also] joined the Alternative Dispute Resolution skills board after being invited because I enjoy conflict resolution and being able to find reasonable solutions for people."

3. What are your plans for the summer?

"I am splitting my summer between two firms in Mississippi—Butler Snow LLP in Ridgeland, MS, and Forman Watkins & Krutz LLP in Jackson, MS."

4. What are your hobbies and interests outside of the classroom?

"Outside of law school, I try to take some time and be human. I enjoy cooking, writing, spending time with my friends, and painting (I’m not good, but it is fun!)"
