Susan Fine Named Associate Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy

Susan Fine has been named GW Law’s Associate Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy. For the past eight months, she has led the Career Center as Interim Associate Dean.

Since joining the law school a decade ago as Director of Professional Development, Associate Dean Fine has assisted thousands of students in achieving their career goals through her work as co-director of the Inns of Court and Foundations of Practice Programs. Nationally recognized for her innovations in law student professional development, she served two terms as Chair of the National Association Law Placement (NALP) Law Student Professional Development Section and is currently the Vice Chair of NALP’s Professional Identity Formation Working Group. She was a board member of the ABA’s Legal Career Central for two terms and is a member of the Professional Development Consortium.

A frequent speaker on law student professional development, she regularly presents at NALP Annual Education Conferences and the Professional Development Institute. Earlier in her career, following a federal clerkship, she worked as an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel at the United States Department of Justice. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School.
