GW Law's Assistant Dean for Energy Law and Professorial Lecturer in Law Donna M. Attanasio was honored with this year's Paul E. Nordstrom Service Award presented by the Energy Bar Association (EBA). The award recognizes exemplary long-term service or a particularly significant example of public service by a current or past member to the community through the EBA, or its foundations, the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association (CFEBA) and the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal (FELJ). Dean Attanasio was honored with this award based on her decades of service to the EBA and mentorship of young lawyers.

Dean Attanasio served as President of the EBA for the 2008-2009 term. The Nordstrom Award was found during her term as president, following the death of Paul E. Nordstrom, a former EBA President and long-time EBA Board member and officer. Nordstrom was instrumental in establishing the CFEBA and the award honors his contribution and leadership. In 2008, Dean Attanasio, together with Richard Meyers, then-president of the CFEBA, presented the first Nordstrom Award posthumously to Paul Nordstrom, which was accepted by his widow, K Henry.

Dean Attanasio remarked, "I worked with Paul as an EBA officer during this period in which he led the effort to found the CFEBA, in 2002. The work that EBA and its foundations do reflects its members' commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional integrity, and CFEBA further reflects the community's sense of responsibility and kindness. We established the Nordstrom award in recognition of Paul's embodiment of these principles. Thus, I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition."
