Students from GW Law's National Security, Cybersecurity, & Foreign Relations Law Program, Veteran Law Students Association, National Security Law Association, and Military Law Society, participated in a Pentagon tour with the Army's Office of the Judge Advocate General.

This tour offered students a chance to meet personally with Lieutenant General (LTG) Risch, the 41st Judge Advocate General of the Army, receive a personal Pentagon tour and learn about career opportunities from current Judge Advocates (JAs) and Department of the Army (DA) Civilian attorneys.

LTG Risch spoke about career opportunities for JAs and DA Civilian attorneys. He also discussed the Army JAG Corps' future initiatives, including support of the military's cyber mission and development of the Office of the Special Trial Counsel (OSTC). Finally, students had the opportunity to ask LTG Risch specific questions about Military Law and the JAG Corps.

On the formal Pentagon tour, students learned about the Pentagon's history and mission, the impacts of the 9/11 attack, and various Pentagon traditions. They also paid their respects at the Pentagon's 9/11 memorial.

Finally, the students ended the tour with an informal discussion led by COL Ryan Dowdy, Chief of Strategic Initiatives, Office of the Judge Advocate General. COL Dowdy was joined by several military and civilian attorneys to discuss legal careers in the Army.

At the tour's conclusion, one student mentioned "I had no idea the Army has so many legal career options outside of active service." GW Law's student organizations are grateful to the Office of the Judge Advocate General team for making this tour an overwhelming success and an excellent resource for students.
