Join the GW Law community as we remember John Fletcher, JD '16, Visiting Associate Professor and Graduate Fellow, who passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

During his JD studies at GW Law, Professor Fletcher was honored as the Murray J. Schooner Government Procurement Law Scholar. He won a top writing award in the Government Contracts Moot Court Competition; served as Notes Editor on the Public Contract Law Journal, where he also published a Note discussing small business service-disabled veterans contracting; and mentored other students on the journal.

After graduation, he joined Wiley Rein's Government Procurement Law practice group where he counseled and represented government contractors on a range of legal issues, including internal investigations, bid protests, and complex litigation in federal and state courts.

Professor Fletcher was a veteran and served in U.S. Army Special Operations. It was during this time of uniformed service that he was drawn to government procurement law where he saw the demonstrated need for a highly-skilled acquisition workforce.

A graduate of the University of Utah, Professor Fletcher was a National Security and Cybersecurity LLM candidate. He served in externships in the Intelligence Community practicing in the national security and government procurement area of the law.
