Prior to her current mobilization as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Amanda Williams was an Attorney Advisor with the Department of Defense and a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Before that, she was an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the District of Columbia.
She has also served over fourteen years in the U.S. Army’s JAG Corps, on both active duty and in a reserve capacity. During Ms. Williams' military career, she has been a trial-level prosecutor, an appellate-level defense attorney, and a law clerk for the Trial Judiciary and Army Court of Criminal Appeals. She is also the Executive Director of the Judge Advocates Association and has been involved in the American Bar Association.
Ms. Williams graduated from The Ohio State University cum laude, with a degree in History, and she earned her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she served as the President of the Public Interest Law Foundation and was the online editor of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution.
