William K. West, Jr. is Senior Counsel in the intellectual property litigation group of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, currently based in Washington DC. Previously, he was a partner with Howrey Simon Baker & Murchison, Pillsbury Madison & Sutro and, prior to merger, Cushman, Darby & Cushman. 

Mr. West has been lead counsel in a number of major trial court matters in various district courts and the US International Trade Commission, as well as in numerous appeal matters before the US Courts of Appeals. He was a member of the editorial Advisory Board of BNA's Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal from1983 to 2009.

In addition to writing and speaking on various intellectual property matters, Mr. West has served as arbitrator, mediator, and court-appointed Master in resolving various issues in civil patent litigation, and as an advisor to the government of the Republic of South Korea on a revision of that country's intellectual property laws. He has been recognized and listed for both patent law and intellectual property litigation by Super Lawyers, International Who's Who of Patent Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America (1991-2017).
