Mario Zúñiga, LLM '15, was recently appointed as Commissioner of Peru's Antitrust Commission of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI). He will have responsibility for all cases in Peru related to abuse of dominant position, collusion, and merger control.

GW Law's LLM program enriched Mr. Zúñiga in various ways. He credits Professor William E. Kovacic, in particular, for enhancing his understanding of antitrust law and administrative law. "Professor Kovacic reinforced my knowledge of the fundamental aspects of antitrust law and his antitrust seminar enabled me to explore critical institutional aspects of antitrust regulation and enforcement," Mr. Zúñiga said.

Before joining GW Law, Mr. Zúñiga was an attorney at law with a broad legal background in competition law and regulation. After returning to Lima, Peru, from Washington, D.C., he continued with his practice and also became an advisor to the Minister of Economy, Peruvian Government. He holds his LLB, '06, degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
