Michael O. Warnecke, JD '67, was a distinguished speaker at the Advanced Trial Advocacy Symposium hosted by the Republic of Palau in conjunction with the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL). Founded in 1950, ACTL is a professional association which is widely considered the most prestigious organization of trial lawyers in the world.

The symposium brought in some of the best legal minds in the United States. The three-day gathering provided an opportunity for distinguished judges and lawyers to share their breadth of knowledge and experience with their counterparts in the Micronesia Region.

Mr. Warnecke’s high-profile international experience includes being selected the People's Republic of China trade delegation, led by Vice Premier Li Lanqing, to host a two-day seminar for American automotive and after-market companies, as well as the Chinese delegation on the legal aspects of doing business in China. His trial accolades include being lead trial counsel in Riddell v. Schutt. The patent infringement case involved Riddell’s football helmet technology developed to reduce concussions. The jury award of $30 million was the largest in Wisconsin history for a patent case.

Mr. Warnecke is a partner in the Chicago office of Perkins Coie, LLP and is a member of GW Law’s Intellectual Property Advisory Board.
