Dean Rosa Celorio Appointed to Executive Council of the American Society of International Law

GW Law's Associate Dean for International and Comparative Legal Studies and Burnett Family Distinguished Professorial Lecturer in International and Comparative Law and Policy Rosa Celorio was elected to serve on the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) during ASIL's 2023 annual meeting. She will serve in this capacity for three years. Recently, Dean Celorio concluded her two-year work as Chair of the Membership Committee of ASIL. The American Society of International Law is the foremost institution in the United States dedicated to the advancement and study of international law.

Dean Celorio said about her appointment, "I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve in the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law. ASIL has a critical role in covening major actors in the area of international law and in promoting the discussion of priority issues. As a member of the Executive Council, I will continue supporting ASIL in the identification of creative and innovative ways to address priority issues in international law and in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion as guiding goals in all of its initiatives. I also look forward to supporting ASIL in building continued excitement and interest over international law, as these are very challenging times."

GW Law has a strong International and Comparative Law (ICL) program, including an extensive course curriculum and world-renowned faculty. The ICL program has great collaboration with government agencies, law firms, non-profit entities, and international and regional organizations. Dean Celorio's appointment is evidence of the law school's wonderful work in this area and will expose our students to many opportunities and discussions in this field.
