George Washington University Law School Dean Dayna Bowen Matthew is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth L. Ewert as Senior Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs and the John S. Jenkins Family Professorial Lecturer in Law and Policy, effective February 1, 2023.

"Elizabeth's long-standing experience with the GW Law community, her excellent management skills, and her proven dedication to our students make her a perfect candidate for this position. I have enjoyed Elizabeth's exceptionally sound judgment and calm approach to whatever curveball comes her way," says Dean Dayna Bowen Matthew.

Most recently, she served as GW Law's Associate Dean of Students, overseeing student affairs and academic services with an outstanding team of professionals who have responsibility for serving the administrative needs of our students. Before joining GW Law in 2016, Elizabeth L. Ewert was the first Director of Academic Enhancement Programs in the Office of the Dean of Students at Georgetown Law. While at Georgetown, she worked on issues regarding academic support and improvement, wellness and mental health, diversity and bias, and student organization management, while serving on senior administrative committees focusing on academic policy and curricular development. Dean Ewert also taught an upper-level seminar, Writing for Law Practice, as well as a co-requisite Externship Seminar, and developed and taught co-curricular programming on academic support, professional competencies, professional identity, and career planning.

Before academia, Dean Ewert was a partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath, where she was a litigator representing businesses in products liability, False Claims Act, employment, and contract disputes. During 2009-10 while still in practice, Dean Ewert taught Legal Research and Writing and Introduction to Advocacy at GW Law as an adjunct professor.

"I'm delighted to continue my service on behalf of GW Law. I have the great fortune of following in the footsteps of a series of consummate leaders in this role, who created the blueprint for ensuring the law school is on the best possible footing. We will continue to strive for excellence while maintaining our special sense of community so that students and alumni will always be proud to call GW Law home," says Dean Ewert.
