Eric Scott Sirulnik

Eric Scott Sirulnik began his association with clinical legal education as a student prosecutor in the Suffolk County, Massachusetts, District Attorney’s Office while in his third year of law school at Boston University. He continued his studies in this field by serving as a VISTA attorney assigned to the Neighborhood Legal Services Program of the District of Columbia while earning a Master of Laws degree at GW. 

After a year of teaching law and the humanities at the undergraduate level at GW, he joined the faculty of the law school, where he implemented and directed one of the country’s largest and most well-respected clinical programs. From 1994 to 2002, he served as associate dean for clinical affairs and research development. As clinical director, he developed substantial clinical programs in civil litigation, law and aging, immigration law, small business law, and vaccine injury law. 

Professor Sirulnik has received numerous grants for his clinical work, gaining recognition from the U.S. Administration on Aging, Legal Services Corporation, U.S. Department of Education, and U.S. Small Business Administration, among others. In 1994, he co-authored and successfully introduced the first-ever student practice rule for the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. His classroom teaching has included torts, criminal law and procedures, and a unique course on drugs and the law that combines a practical skills-training format with an exploration of federal drug policy and substantive law.
