GW Law recently added a new JD Concentration in Privacy, Data Security and Technology (PDT) Law. This new Concentration requires 12 credits (including a written paper requirement related to PDT), and two required courses – Information Privacy Law and one of two possible courses in Cybersecurity Law.

The new PDT concentration was established because of an increasing demand among students who want to specialize in this area of law. Job opportunities in privacy, data security, and technology law have grown tremendously and are now abundant. Essentially every major general practice law firm in the country now has a separate practice group in privacy, cybersecurity, and technology law. Regulatory activity in these areas of law is occurring at a fever pitch.

The PDT Concentration is a way to signal that you have engaged in extensive study of privacy, data security, and technology law. It is a way to stand out and gain an advantage in the job market.

GW Law already offers a JD Concentration in Intellectual Property (IP) Law that approximately 50 students graduated with in 2023.  The addition of a new stand alone PDT JD concentration will give students more options and allow law firms to easily see their main area of focus.
