"I am truly honored to be selected to participate in the ICJ's Judicial Fellowship Programme. This opportunity will give me invaluable exposure to learn from the members of the Court about the working of an institution that has made immense contributions towards the interpretation and understanding of international law. I am excited to see what the future holds as I believe this will be an avenue that will ensure that I shape my efforts towards contributing to upholding the international legal order. I would like to thank God, my family, friends, and professors for all their support. I am especially grateful to Dean Celorio for encouraging me to apply and for her support throughout the entire process," said Gabriella Gebremedhin, LLM Class of 2023.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) Judicial Fellowship Programme is the most competitive fellowship in International Law. GW Law's International and Comparative Law Program nominates two candidates per year. The ICJ selects about 15 fellows per year from a group of candidates nominated by law schools around the world. The selection process for this fellowship is fiercely competitive, as this is the most coveted fellowship in international law. GW Law has had four nominees selected in the last six years, which speaks volumes of the reputation of GW Law with the International Court of Justice and in the International Law field in general.

"The International and Comparative Law program is so proud of Gabriella and this tremendous accomplishment. Gabriella is a very impressive student and I am sure that this will be the beginning of many contributions that she will make to the field of International Law. We continue deeply grateful to the International Court of Justice for opening the door for our students to participate in this wonderful fellowship program. This speaks volumes of the strength of our students and their potential to shape International Law in the future," said Rosa Celorio, GW Law's Associate Dean for International and Comparative Legal Studies and Burnett Family Distinguished Professorial Lecturer in International and Comparative Law and Policy.
