GW Law students continued to succeed at advocacy court competitions this spring, including multiple competitions in Washington, DC, and one in Hong Kong.
GW Law LLM students Eden Hailemariam, Amarlid Hazizaj, Theronie Hunt, and Julia Quintao Frade reached semi-finals at the Washington Arbitration Competition held on April 2 - 4 at American University. Adjunct Professor Sophia Herbst, an international arbitration lawyer at McGrail & Bensinger, LLP, coached the team.
Peter Fasoli and Ashlyn Nazari, both Class of 2026, also reached semi-finals at the Richard K. Gilbert Policy Advocacy Competition at the John A. Wilson Building in Washington, D.C. Adjunct Professor Frances Chrzan, a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives, coached the team in the competition, which was sponsored by the DC Justice Lab.
Jonah Gold, Adam Just, and Linnea Miller reached the quarter-finals at the Manfred Lachs Space Law North American Regional Moot Court in DC. Adjunct professor and GW Law alumnus Henry Hertzfeld coached the team. Professor Hertzfield is also the Research Professor of Space Policy and International Affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs at GW.
In March, four GW Law students, Camille Burton, Bridget Gidlow, Cobi Lockett, and Shaian Sharmin, traveled across the globe to compete in the 23rd Annual Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong. The team advanced to the 32nd round, one of only three American teams to do so. Adjunct Professors Gabriel Gates and Jill Warnock, both attorneys in the international arbitration section of Covington & Burling, coached the team.
