“The project presents a framework to effectively implement privacy protection,” added Reporter Daniel J. Solove. “One of the foundational things about privacy protection is the Fair Information Practice Principles or FIPPs. What you’ll find is that there are many different versions of FIPPs. One of the things we tried to do is pull together all these different versions and come up with what we think is the most sensible approach.”

The American Law Institute (ALI) has approved the PRINCIPLES OF THE LAW, DATA PRIVACY. Daniel Solove and Paul Schwartz were co-reporters on the project. A new edition of Dan’s guide Privacy Law Fundamentals was published in May (by IAPP with Professor Paul Schwart). Dan co-organized and co-hosted the second annual International Privacy+Security Forum in April, which featured 450 participants from around the world. Dan held the 12th annual Privacy Law Scholars Conference in May, which featured 310 participants and 80 workshopped papers. Scholars from many disciplines attended, including law, computer science, business, economics, history, and others. The event alternates between GW and Berkeley. This year, it was at Berkeley.
